Membership of The English-Speaking Union
About the ESU
The English-Speaking Union is a unique global education charity and membership organisation that brings together and empowers people of different languages and cultures. By building skills and confidence in communication, we give people the opportunity to realise their full potential. Our vision is to provide people in the UK and internationally with communication skills, confidence and opportunities to engage in an exchange of ideas and opinions.
Membership of the ESU
Since our foundation in 1918, membership has been the lifeblood of the ESU. From Evelyn Wrench’s founding vision of an organisation dedicated to promoting peace and unity through the commonality of the English language, to the dynamic and varied charity we are today, membership has always been an important part of our organisation.
As a member, you will receive exclusive access to the members’ facilities at Dartmouth House, the Grade II* listed Mayfair townhouse which serves as the home of the ESU. We run a vibrant and varied programme of events at Dartmouth House, including unique concerts led by our Artist in Residence, James Pearson, the Artistic Director at the world-famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. Members receive discounts to these, as well as the host of other events organised by our 35 branches across England & Wales.
